Murjoni Merriweather

Murjoni Merriweather is a double major in Ceramics and Film at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She fell in love with ceramics and sculpture in eighth grade and has been exploring and expanding the medium ever since.

Merriweather has participated in a number of group and collective exhibitions. She recently was a hit at Baltimore's PMFVIII (Print and Media Fair) and has shown at Moto House Gallery. She is also involved with the CLR-D and Last-Niight collectives.

Her work is an intensely personal examination of the lives of people of color and their communities -- she touches on ideas of tragedy and struggle as well as radical self-love and acceptance in communities of color. Her work with the CLR-D collective, operated for and by people of color, explores these themes in detail.
